Hi, folks.
As the name of the website may indicate, I’m Danny Quinn and welcome to my website… or rather the new version of it. Yeah, for those of you who haven’t been following my online endeavours over the past couple of years, this isn’t my first, second, third or even fourth attempt at creating a website. Indeed, my previous website was up for almost two years and I barely did anything with it aside from maintaining what I now refer to as a “blournal”, which I would use as an outlet to wax lyrical about popular culture and try to make sense of the world around me. The term itself, I’m sure, is pretty self-explanatory. It’s an obvious portmanteau of “blog” and “journal”. I know I’m not the first person to use the term and I likely won’t be the last either, but I think it encapsulates what this is. It’s not quite a blog, it’s not quite a journal, it’s somewhere in between.
Also, yes… I did say on my previous blournal that I had no plans to take a sledgehammer approach and rebuild the site entirely from scratch, but I changed my mind. I felt like a proper fresh start was necessary, as opposed to the soft reboot approach I’d initially proposed. I have so many ideas and ambitions for how I want the website to look but for now, it’s probably for the best to keep it simple and plain.
Like I said in my first blournal entry on the old website…
“…that’s why I’m now making this website public. Obviously, there’s still some more work to be done with the site, but that’s fine by me. Websites are always some form of a work-in-progress and this one is no exception. I look forward to seeing what this website becomes in the future, but it has to start somewhere and I present to you… somewhere.”
Currently, I’m not sure what I’m gonna do with the old blournal. Part of me wants to just junk it, pretend it never happened and act as if this is the official first entry because I greatly dislike at least 90 to 95% of what I wrote in it, but there is also a part of me that wants to keep it around in some capacity. I may absolutely fucking hate the vast majority of what I’ve written but who knows. I might still be able to use it for quotations so it’s not completely unsalvageable.
So yeah, that should do it for my first blournal entry… well, my “first” blournal entry, but I digress again. I’ll be working on this website on-and-off for an indefinite amount of time so bear with me if things get a little weird. I have a lot of ideas that I’d love to try out and implement but for the time being, this should at the very least be a solid enough foundation to build off of.
OK, that’s me done… for reals this time. Time for me to hit the gym and see where I go from there. In the meantime, here’s me dressing up for Halloween.
