Why I don’t do year-end lists (Part 1)
I have to admit… I am fucking awful at keeping up to date with new music. There’s so many albums which released this year that I’ve been wanting to listen to, but for some reason, I just haven’t gotten around to yet..
I Quit, Haim
Virgin, Lorde
Man’s Best Friend, Sabrina Carpenter
NEVER ENOUGH, Turnstile
More, Pulp
Let All That We Imagine Be The Light, Garbage
Skeletà, Ghost
EURO-COUNTRY, CMAT
Lux, Rosalia
Mayhem, Lady Gaga
The Art of Loving, Olivia Dean
People Watching, Sam Fender
Everybody Scream, Florence and the Machine
Getting Killed, Geese
West End Girl, Lily Allen
Ego Death at a Bachelor Party, Hayley Williams
Parasites & Butterflies, Nova Twins
The Hives Forever, Forever The Hives, The Hives
No Hard Feelings, The Beaches
Forever Is A Feeling, Lucy Dacus
All That Is Over, Sprints
Idols, Yungblud
Are We All Angels, Scowl
R Is For Rocket, Rocket
Breach, Twenty One Pilots
Tsunami Sea, Spiritbox
Sanguivore II: Mistress of Death, Creeper
…and many others. Hopefully, I’ll get around to listening to some of these albums in January where I’ll be working my way through some of yesteryear’s leftovers. Granted, there was a small handful of songs released in 2025 which I did hear and I also thoroughly enjoy. So, here’s a few of them in no particular order…
“CPR”, “Catch These Fists” and “Mangetout”, Wet Leg
”Manchild” and “Tears”, Sabrina Carpenter
”Be Nice To Each Other” and “Man I Need”, Olivia Dean
”Abracadabra” and “The Dead Dance”, Lady Gaga
”EURO-COUNTRY”, CMAT
”Spike Island”, Pulp
”Bloom Baby Bloom”, Wolf Alice
”NEVER ENOUGH”, Turnstile
”Cuntology 101”, Lambrini Girls
”A Little Love” and “Hunting Season”, Biffy Clyro
”Just Like Heaven”, Olivia Rodrigo and Robert Smith (I’d say this counts as it was released in some capacity and yeah, I thought this was a wonderful rendition of one of my favourite Cure songs)
”As Alive As You Need Me To Be”, Nine Inch Nails
”Running Joke/Paper Machete” and ”Kalopsia”, Queens of the Stone Age (both of these are from the Alive in the Catacombs EP that Queens put out earlier this year. Spoiler alert, it’s really fucking good and if you like to see an unusual take on the “unplugged” formula, it’s well worth checking out)
”Where Are You, Christmas”, The Pretty Reckless
”My Mind Is A Mountain”, Deftones
So yeah, not a particularly extensive list, but I promise I’ll more than make up for it in 2026… or not. At this point, I'm not guaranteeing a damn thing.
