Gym and Glastonbury II

Had a bit of a slow start, but I think I made up for it by doing a bit of working out… granted, it was fairly late in the day, but you know what they say… better late than never.

One thing I like to do when I’m at the gym is to listen to music, and at the moment, I’m thinking about creating a series of exercise playlists for when I’m working out, going for long walks or even doing some exercises in the house. There’s one particular song I’m really digging at the moment, and that’s Wet Leg’s new song, “Catch These Fists”. I love the groove and rhythm of the song, but I also feel like it has a great pump-up vibe to it which fits the gym lifestyle that I’ve been co-opting for the last month or so. If I was to create a workout playlist, “Catch These Fists” would definitely be the opening track.

Speaking of which, I loved Wet Leg’s set at Glastonbury and I’m looking forward to that new album, which comes out next week. I’m still catching up with most of the Glastonbury performances I missed, but I’ve loved what I’ve heard so far… Wolf Alice, Turnstile, Amyl and the Sniffers, Biffy Clyro, Weezer, The Prodigy, Nova Twins, etc… I’ve still only seen part of Olivia Rodrigo’s set, but if you ask me, I think she kicks way more ass than she has any right to. I know I’m not the target demographic for her music by any means, but she genuinely rocks… even more so than the likes of Alanis Morrisette and Avril Lavigne. No disrespect to Alanis or Avril obviously, but Olivia goes so hard with her music and I kind of love that. I’m looking forward to watching the rest of her performance later on.

Sometimes, I really don’t get why people shit on newer music because yeah, the politics and business side of things really suck, but I still feel like there’s a lot of good stuff out there. Maybe that’s me.

On a completely unrelated note, I took this photo this time yesterday when I was coming home from the midweek quiz (which is still going good, by the way). Sadly, I didn’t get anything like this today, which was a bit drearier by comparison, but eh… it is what it is, I guess.
