OK… you got me

OK. I’ll admit. I have fallen for at least one April Fools’ joke today. Earlier this morning before I went to the gym, I saw an announcement on The Fright Club NI’s Facebook page that they’d managed to get Robert Englund for their upcoming Strange and Unusual event in Ballymena and I got excited for a couple of seconds before I read the fine print and remembered that today was April Fools Day.

Goddamn it. Just when I think I’m getting cynical about April Fools Day, I manage to fall for something so simple and I can’t help but let out a light chuckle to myself.

Also, does anybody ever remember that Simpsons episode where it’s April Fools Day? Yeah, it’s a clip show episode but a pretty great one. I especially love the bit where Lisa explains how April Fools Day was originally the Pagan New Year. I looked it up but sadly that’s one of the very few things that The Simpsons wasn’t accurate about, so it won’t be included in my upcoming book: Almost Everything I Learned About Life I Learned From The Simpsons.
