A belated post-birthday blournal

OK so this one’s a little overdue. My intention was to have an update banged out on Sunday before I went out to the barbecue that I was selling tickets for, but I never got around to writing anything because I felt absolutely fucking bleutered by the time Monday rolled around. Who would’ve guessed that having an active social life takes a lot out of you?

From there, I just kept putting things off, mostly because I’ve been playing the second Ratchet & Clank game almost non-stop. I’m only a third of the way through it so far but it’s such a brilliant sequel and a fucking incredible game in its own right. It improves upon the original in literally every way. The platforming, the shooting mechanics, the characters, the humour and the overall presentation are all top-notch, but easily one of my favourite additions to the game is the levelling-up system that appears in every subsequent game. Simply put, I love this feature so much. Levelling up Ratchet and his arsenal of weapons is a blast and I can’t get enough.

All things considered, I did have a great weekend celebrating my birthday. I watched the England vs. Norway match, but didn’t think it was all that exciting. I did keep up with it enough to see England progress to the semis… only to get their asses handed to them by Argentina in the last ten minutes. I only caught brief snippets of that particular match but needless to say, it looks like football won’t be coming home anytime soon. Now, all that’s left of the World Cup is the England vs. France match for third place tomorrow night and the grand finale, Spain vs. Argentina on Sunday. Will I watch both matches? I probably will. Even if I’m not really a soccer fan, I still like getting wrapped up all in the hype surrounding the World Cup and it’s made all the more fun when you’re out for a bit of craic.

Anyways, it’s that time again where I sneak off to the pub for a few Friday night pints so… this’ll have to do for now. I’ll be back at some point in the future. No idea when. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
