BLOURNAL
Some Kind of Normality
Went out for a few pints last night, instead of watching The Acolyte like I said I would. I promise I'm not trying to put off watching that series. It’s just that yesterday was a Bank Holiday and I felt like treating myself a little bit.
There’s always a bigger fifth
Yes, that’s a Star Wars reference and yes, I will be keeping this shit up for the foreseeable.
May the Fourth Be With You
Happy Star Wars Day, everyone.
Mayday
Well, that’s the first day of May done and dusted. I can’t believe that we’re a third of the way into the year already. I previously asked where the time went in a previous “blournal“ entry so it doesn’t bear repeating.
Happy Alien Day
I almost forgot that today is Alien Day. Alas, I’m heading out to the pub for the night, so I won’t get the chance to watch any of the films beforehand, but I might watch the OG film when I get back… preferably with the lights out.
Sinners
I finally got around to seeing Sinners yesterday, and sorry to disappoint anyone who expects me to be a contrarian but yeah, I thought it was bloody brilliant. Possibly my favourite film of the year so far.
420
Almost completely forgot that today is 420 Day, in addition to being Easter Sunday. Not that it has any effect on my life as I don’t smoke and I don’t intend to start anytime soon, but I think it’s kind of neat.
Scairbhín Season
Mum gave me a new word to add to my vocabulary this morning… scaraveen (or “scairbhín”). The word has its roots in the Irish phrase “garbh shíon na gCuach” and translates to “rough weather of the cuckoo”.
Feeling coo-mtemplative…
So far, today has been quite a drizzly day, but that hasn’t stopped this pigeon from dropping by to have a quick glance at their reflection.
A sort of update
Today is one of those days where the weather can’t seem to make up its mind. The sun is shining but it’s also deceptively nippy and there’s the occasional black clouds looming in the sky. Not exactly ideal cycling weather, but I managed to rack up some good mileage so either way, I’m happy.
Along the Loughshore
Dad and I went for a walk along the Moyola Waterfoot Nature Reverse earlier today. It’s a little off the beaten path, but it’s a lovely spot and the warm weather only makes it all the more picturesque.
A little after midnight
OK. It’s a little after midnight and yes, I never quite figured out whether it’s still tonight or tomorrow morning so bear with me.
Midweek
The weather’s been extra good lately, and that’s why I’m currently sitting out in the patio, listening to the birds tweeting and singing.
Sunday
I’ve been away celebrating a family wedding over the weekend and it was great craic all around, but it’s now Sunday. The sun’s setting and I’m about to head out to the local pub for a few pints.
I can ride for miles…
…ten miles to be precise. Not a huge accomplishment per se, but it’s something.
Novocaine
I had a lot of fun watching this in the cinema.
I’ve always been a sucker for action-comedy and this one does delivers the goods. It’s unabashedly goofy and doesn’t take itself seriously unless it needs to…
April Fools' Day
Yep, it’s that time of year again and nope… I don’t have any jokes. Then again, it’s hard to top the current state of the world, which itself feels like an overly indulgent and drawn-out April Fools joke with no end in sight.
Mickey 17
I saw Mickey 17 last week. I would’ve written about it much sooner but I’ve been struggling to articulate my thoughts on it.
The caveman look is gone… for now
I got myself a shave and a haircut earlier today, and it does lightens the load.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day
It’s not the most vibrantly green shirt I could, but it should save me from the pinch brigade.
